Derrell Ladson Medlock

GASTONIA, NC-- Mr. Derrell Ladson Medlock, 87, died peacefully at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC, Saturday, April 6, 2013. He was a native of Pickens County, SC and son of the late Otis McKinley & Lillian Cleveland Medlock.
Derrell retired after 35+ years in the textile industry, served in the Army with the 82nd Airborne, graduated from Newberry College in SC with a BS degree in secondary education. Derrell was also a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jane Haddle Medlock; daughters, Melinda Lyon of St. Augustine, FL, Melany Culp of Charlotte, and Martha Keever of Belmont; grandchildren, Leah DeLuzio, Thomas Lyon, Ryan Gallagher, Reid Culp, and Robert Culp; and great-granddaughter, Isabella DeLuzio.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Vernon, and Jerome Medlock; sister, Doris Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A graveside service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Wood Memorial Park in Duncan, SC. with Military Honors provided by the US Army.
