SPARTANBURG, SC-- Doris Elsey Painter, 78, of 1095 Maryland Avenue, passed away Friday, December 28th, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Painter was born in the Redhill borough of Surrey, England on May 9, 1934, and was a daughter of the late James and Emma Kipling Elsey. She was the widow of Floyd Graham Painter, Sr. to whom she was married for over 54 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked as a nurse's aide for 10 years and in the admissions offices of Spartanburg Regional and Mary Black Hospitals.
Survivors include three sons, F. Graham Painter, Jr. of Bostic, NC, Tim Painter of Boiling Springs, SC, and Sharon and Michael Painter of Spartanburg, SC. She also has five brothers and two sisters, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Seawright Funeral Home at 2:00 PM.
A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel conducted by the Rev. Terry Pleasant.
