TRYON, NC-- Dorothy Montgomery Penney, 90, of Tryon, NC, a "pay it forward girl" died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at White Oak Manor. Born December 17, 1921, she was the wife of Comus Robert Penney and daughter of the late Russell and Shadie Montgomery of Woodruff, SC.
She was an aviatrix, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Sunday School teacher perfecto. A graduate of Winthrop University, she flew with Delta Airlines and was a world traveler, bringing joy to all four corners.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Tamara Penney Behner and Kim Penney Freeman; two grandsons, Grant and Mills Howell of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Gryphon and Avalee Howell; sister, Mary Dunlap of Boone, NC; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Monday, December 17, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman.
Her worldly body was donated to the Medical College of Charleston. Please make all memorial donations to the , 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
