Dorothy Simpson Williams King
FOREST CITY, NC-- Dorothy Simpson Williams King, 84, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Ruth Connor. She was a daughter of the late Cora Bailey and Lee Jack Simpson and wife of the late James L. King.
Mrs. King was a waitress at Buddy's Truck Stop and resident of Spartanburg County for most of her life. She was a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church and attended Cowpens Church of God of Prophecy. She also loved her family and was a Mother to all with a heart for serving others, and always looked forward to preparing Sunday dinner for family and any others that wanted to come. She enjoyed fishing.
Survived by 4 sons, Thomas E. Williams of Chesnee, Jackie H. Williams and wife Susan of Cowpens, Vernon D. Williams of Cowpens and Michael King (stepson) of Spartanburg, as well as 6 daughters, Dorothy Frances Johnson and husband Daniel of Chesnee, Alice Ruth Conner and husband Roger of Forest City, Donna A. Thrift and husband Tim of Converse, Tina M. Brown and husband Stan of Gaffney, Judy K. McHenry (stepdaughter) of Spartanburg, and Vickie K. Blanton (stepdaughter) of Inman. Mrs. King was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and special heart adopted children, Bobby and James Free, Nancy Fauler and Beverly Ann Roberts. She was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, June 17, 2013, officiated by Chaplain Hattie Williams at Bobo Funeral Chapel, preceded by visitation at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
