COLUMBIA, SC-- Forrest A. Jolly, 90, of Columbia, departed for his Heavenly home Saturday, May 11, 2013. Born September 23, 1922, in Cherokee County, SC, he was a son of the late Collis Kenyon Jolly and Willie Fay Brown. Mr. Jolly, a direct descendent of many American Revolutionary Patriots joined the US Army Fourth Infantry Division and survived the June 6th, 1944, D-Day invasion of Normandy. Also fighting in The Battle of the Bulge he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous other medals and ribbons.
Forrest was the owner of Jolly's Frame and Wheel Alignment, Inc. for 32 years. Following retirement he worked for 7 years with Shives Funeral Home until 2012 when his health began to decline. He was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon; he was also a member of The Gideon's International, and American Legion Post # 0510.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Pearl Baldwin Jolly; a daughter, Eugenia Bambas of Columbia; grandson, Lonnie Forrest Bambas of Auburn, AL; sisters, Flora Robbins, Nona Mae Estes, Patricia Tate, Wilma Fowler and Carolyn Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Forrest Foy Jolly, three brothers and one sister.
The funeral service for Mr. Jolly will be held 2 o'clock, Wednesday, May 15th at North Trenholm Baptist Church with The Rev. R. Joseph Copeland officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
