NORTH WILKESBORO, NC-- Franklin Andrew Stokes, 56, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 after a brief bout with cancer. A native of North Wilkesboro, NC, Frank was born, December 24, 1956. The former Woodruff, SC resident was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pauline, SC where he served in the music and A/V ministries. He attended Wilkes Community College where he majored in music. Frank will be remembered as an electrician, artist, music producer and owner of FAS Studio. He worked at Magnolia Place in Spartanburg and most recently Tyson Foods, Inc. in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
Survivors include wife, Wanda Johnson-Stokes of Woodruff; four daughters - Akemi (Corey) Arter of Boone, Iowa; Maiya (Shawn) Phillips of Yadkinville, NC; Emily Stokes of Charleston, SC, and Lelia Stokes of Woodruff, SC. One brother, Ronnie (Pam) Stokes of Yadkinville, NC; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends including his cherished mother-in-law Shirley Johnson, of Woodruff, SC and childhood friend and brother-in-law Keith (Angela) Wilborn, of Woodruff, SC. Preceding him in death was his father and mother, Sheriff Buck Perkins, and Martha Perkins of North Wilkesboro, NC; and father-in-law Luther Johnson of Woodruff, SC.
The family will hold a private ceremony of reflections in the mountains of Western North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, cards and other gifts, the family asks that donations be made to college funds for Emily and Lelia Stokes.
