SALISBURY, NC-- James Lee Burnette, 80, of Salisbury, NC, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, Carolinas Medical Center Northeast.
Born October 16, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late Louise Wall and Leroy Talmedge Burnette.
Mr. Burnette was educated at Boiling Springs High School and went on to work for Duke Power for 35 years as a construction supervisor until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death along with his parents, are sister, Peggy Burnette East and grandson, Jason Ramsey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Claudette Miles Burnette of Salisbury, NC; and former wife, Deanie Burnett; daughters, Mary Allen (Harvey) of Woodruff, SC, Donna Ramsey (Richard Rymer) of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Roy Bernard Burnette (Phyllis) of Marietta, GA; step-children, Robert Cummings, Sherry Coleman (Sam), Kathy Tarlton (Gary); grandchild, Cassandra Miller (Chris); five step-grandchildren; ten special great-grandchildren; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 1-2:00PM at Summersett Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Pastor Stanley "Shake" Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, Kiser Hospice House, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144; and St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
