Jimmie Hughey
GAFFNEY, SC-- Jimmie Ray (Daddy Jim) Hughey, 81, formerly of 148 Anthony Street, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at National Healthcare of Mauldin.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Joyce Jolley Hughey and the son of the late Claude Hughey and Nannie Randolph Jolley. He was a United States Coast Guard Veteran and a mason. He was retired from Liberty Life Insurance and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hughey was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer for 40 years and also served as deacon.
Surviving is a son, Phil Hughey and wife Kathy of Sarasota, FL; two daughters, Pamela McSwain and husband, Eddie of Boiling Springs and Patti Funderburk and husband, Mark of Greenville; a brother, Leonard Hughey of Gaffney; a sister, Frances Duckett of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Justin McSwain, Kristopher McSwain, Brittani McSwain, Brandi Hughey, Jackson Hughey and fiance', Amanda Mazieka, Liz Funderburk and Will Funderburk; and two great-grandchildren, Logan McSwain and Riley McSwain.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 AM on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Blakely Funeral Home. A graveside service with military rites will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Roger Ham and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Bethany Baptist Church, P.O. 698, Gaffney, SC, 29342 or Caris Healthcare, 111 Smith Hines Road, Suite D, Greenville, SC, 29607 or Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29302.
The family will be at the residence on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 after 3:00 PM and after the service on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
