SPARTANBURG, SC-- Joan Hope Pope, age 67, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Pope was a native of Warrenton, NC, and a daughter of the late Martin L. Vaughan and Ethel Mae Smiley Vaughan. She was a book keeper and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by one brother, Martin L. Vaughan, Jr.
Mrs. Pope is survived by three sons; James Pope and wife, Leighann of Spartanburg, Joseph Earl Pope and wife, Melia of Tennessee, and Charles Medlin and wife, Elaine of North Carolina; two brothers, Gene Vaughan and Kelly Vaughan both of North Carolina; four sisters who were her best friends, Estelle Waddell, and husband, J. L. of Columbia, Melba Edwards and husband, Kurt of Florida, Judy Creech and husband, Pumpkin, and Penny Lloyd and husband, Danny of North Carolina; grandchildren, James Lewis Pope III, Tristan Lake Pope, Devon Gage Pope, Taygen Conner Pope, Serena Robinson, Lucas Robinson and nine other grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 10, 2014 from the Eggers Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Jack Holden. The family will receive friends following the service.
