GAFFNEY, SC-- Kenneth Earl Hendrix, 71, of 329 Grambling Ferry Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bardwell, KY, he was the husband of Brenda Sarratt Hendrix and son of the late Jesse Earl Hendrix and Genevieve Caughlin Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix was a full-time auctioneer since 1973, served 3 years on the Board of Directors of the S.C. Auctioneer's Association, served 2 years as Editor of the Association's Newletter, was the past president of the S.C. Auctioneer's Association, was the recipient of the S.C. "Auctioneer of the Year" Award, served 4 years on the S.C. Auctioneer's Commission and was a member of the Auctioneer's "Hall of Fame". Mr. Hendrix was the Past President of the American Business Club, was a member of Tygert Methodist Church in Cairo, IL, and attended Grassy Pond Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Cheryl Walston and husband, Scott of Marion, IL; a sister, Mary Kathryn Hendrix of Bardwell, Kentucky; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Sarratt of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Mary Sarratt Dukas and husband, George, of Greenville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special nephews, John Dukas and wife, Angie, of Marietta, SC and David Dukes and wife, Emily, of Kansas City, MO.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Terry Lanford and Dr. Greg Little officiating. Interment will be in the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
