Lucius Martin King, Jr.
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Lucius Martin King, Jr., 72, originally of Belton but lived in Spartanburg for the last 37 years, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Lucius King, Sr. and Ruth Burgess King. He worked in retail, served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Jaycees in Belton and Myrtle Beach and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his soul mate and companion of 47 years, Ann M. King of Spartanburg; daughters, LuAnn K. Sawyer of Spartanburg and Julia King of Boiling Springs; grandsons, John Martin Sawyer and Alexander Ray Sawyer; brother, Charles King of Spartanburg; sister, Elinor Dawson and husband Rev. Irvin Dawson of Stockbridge, GA.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Milton J. King and Joel King; and his sister, Sybil King.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday at Belton City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Hospice Home of Spartanburg or Gibbs Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Ann King's residence, 1456 B. Dover Road, Spartanburg, SC.
