CHESNEE, SC-- Robert Hugh "Bob" Hulsey, Sr. 80, loving husband for 59 years to Lois Langs Hulsey of Chesnee, SC, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
Born, July 9, 1933 in York, SC he was a son of the late Andrew J. Hulsey and Lois Inez Wilson Hulsey. Mr. Hulsey was a forklift salesman for over 50 years in Battlecreek, Michigan, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Roanoke, Virginia and retired from Spartan Leasing. He was instrumental in starting the Cowpens Little League football team, did play by play announcing for Cowpens High School Red Raiders, was very involved in the local gospel music scene and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, former President of the Golden Arrows, Choir Member, on the Flag committee and Welcoming committee. He was a faithful fan of the Clemson Tigers, an avid golfer and a former member of the Chesnee County Club.
In addition to his wife he was the loving father of Bobby Hulsey and wife Elaine of Chesnee, Barry Hulsey and wife Amy of Florence, Bruce Hulsey and wife Shelia of Gaffney. He is also survived by brothers, Kenneth and Johnny Hulsey; sisters, Shirley Saunders and Peggy Phillips; grandchildren, Jordan Powell and wife Angela, Travis Powell and wife Brooke, Renn Gordon, Caitlin Hulsey, Alan Hulsey, Anna Joy Hulsey and great-grandchildren, Avery Kate Powell and Skylynn Gordon.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, David Hulsey and a brother Furman Hulsey.
A Social Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Arrowwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Daniel Godfrey and Eddie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg with Rev. Parker Hulsey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, The or to Arrowwood Baptist Church Golden Arrows.
The family is at the home.
