Samuel Oren Kennington
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Samuel Oren Kennington, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, SC.
Born January 5, 1949 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel O. Kennington, Sr. and the late Mildred Frances (Mosley) Kennington.

Veteran, Sam was honored to serve at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Belgium.
Sam was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and The University of South Carolina in Columbia with a degree in Political Science. While at USC, Sam was privileged to serve as a Page in the South Carolina House of Representatives. He was a Mason and a member of Spartan Lodge #70 AFM.
Sam was one of the pioneers of the Emergency Medical Services in SC. He was one of the first 100 paramedics certified in SC. During his career with the Spartanburg County Emergency Medical Services, Sam had the opportunity to save lives and serve his fellow man at a time when it was most needed. He also served as an Emergency Medical Technician Instructor at Spartanburg Technical College where his knowledgeable skills and dedication to service was extended thru his students to countless people in their care of the sick and injured.
Survivors include; two sons, James Kennington and wife Martha of Gaffney, SC and Chandler Kennington of Spartanburg, SC; two daughters, Elizabeth Oren Kennington of Spartanburg and Holly Kennington of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Thomas, Riley, Brendan and Lenox. He was predeceased by a sister Cathy Kennington Revis.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Court Apartments, 425 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC conducted by the Rev. Wofford Caughman.
The Cremation Society of South Carolina assisted the family during this time of grief.
