Susan Hall Talley
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Susan Hall Talley, 66, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Erwin, North Carolina to Ernie and Lois Hall, Susan moved to Spartanburg in 1973 and began an active life in the community in addition to working within the Spartanburg County legal profession, most recently as a real estate paralegal. She served as a member of the Spartanburg School District Six Board of Trustees for 16 years; Susan also volunteered every Thursday at the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, helping serve meals, for over 20 years. Most recently, she volunteered, when able, at Mobile Meals. She was a member of St. Paul's the Apostle Catholic Church.
Susan is survived by her husband of 39 years, Frank Talley; her sons, Scott and his wife, Kelly, of Moore, and Matt and his wife, Tabitha, of Spartanburg. "Nana" was a wonderful grandmother to five grandsons, Hudson, Leyton, and Wells of Moore, and Jackson and Greyson of Spartanburg. She is also survived by her brother, Mitch Hall of Southport, North Carolina; and her chosen sister, Lu Anne Hall of Matthews, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Bobby Gene Hall.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 6:00- 8:00pm, at Dunbar Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, 11am, in the historic church of St. Paul's the Apostle Catholic Church, officiated by the Reverend Gabriel J. Smith.
Burial will immediately follow the service. Pallbearers are her nephew, Gavin Hall of Atlanta, GA, Jerry Houck, Inman, SC, Dick Hamrick, and Patrick Anderson, Spartanburg, SC, and Ben Thrailkill, and Dr. Lee B. Taylor, III both of Greenville, South Carolina.
The family is at the home.
In addition, her family wishes to express their sincere thanks to her special friends and doctors that supported, cared for and encouraged her in her battle until the very end.
