GAFFNEY, SC-- Tony Lynn Blackwell, 55, of 318 Park Gate Road, went home to be with the Lord in Gaffney.
Born in Gaffney, he was the son of Doris Horton Blackwell of Gaffney and the late William Lyles Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was a graduate of Gaffney High School, attended Clemson University where he was a trainer for the 1981 National Championship Team, was a member of the Gaffney Elks Lodge, #1305, was a Jaycee, and was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church where he formerly served as a deacon.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Bobby Blackwell and wife, Pat, of Tega Cay, and Mike Blackwell and wife, Judy, of Six Mile; a sister, Donna Blackwell Harris and husband, Mitch, of Gaffney; a special friend, Mandy Irwin of Gaffney; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Toby Pope officiating. Interment will be in the Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: of SC, 500 Taylor Street, Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29201 or Salem Presbyterian Church, "Cemetery Fund", 1907 Hickory Grove Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at the home of Mitch and Donna Harris, 503 Vernon Street, Gaffney.
