CHESNEE, SC-- Mrs. Betty Dean Lawter Scruggs, 79, of Chesnee, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 16, 2012. A native of Cooley Springs, she was the loving wife to James Scruggs and the daughter of the late Dean Lawter and Kate Effler Lawter. She was a hairdresser and a member of Gateway to Life Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Garry Moore and his wife Kathy of Chesnee; one daughter, Judi Moore Wallace and her husband Hoyle of Conway; one brother, Wayne Lawter of Chesnee; one sister, Nancy McDowell of Shallotte; five grandchildren, Jeffery, Jennifer, Jason, Loren, and Sarah; six great-grandchildren; and by her special caregiver, Debra Polzin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Sam, Huell, Jackie, Harold, Larry and Ralph Lawter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park with Rev. Carlton Hames and Lt. Loren Wallace officiating.
The family will be at the home.
