GAFFNEY, SC-- Bobby Ray Alexander, 74, of 523 W. Montgomery Street, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Landrum Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Clayton, GA, he was the son of the late J.W. Alexander and Lurleen Heffner Alexander and formerly married to the late Shirley C. Alexander. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and was a retired Firefighter and Meat Cutter. He was a former Mason, Shriner, and a member of the VFW and the Senior Center of Gaffney. Mr. Alexander was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.
Surviving is a son, Ricky Alexander and wife, Nicole of Blacksburg; a daughter, Bobbie Calvert and husband, Brent of Gaffney; a brother, Alton Alexander of North Myrtle Beach; a sister, Brenda Alexander of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren, Kelly Fowler of Gaffney and Casey Fowler of Myrtle Beach. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Alexander.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Alan Peeler officiating. Interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.
