WOODRUFF, SC-- The Reverend Donald R. Durham was born in Woodruff, SC, on June 6, 1958, and entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2012, at Magnolia Place in Spartanburg, SC.
Reverend Durham was married for thirty years to Donna Thomas Durham. He was the son of Mr. Alvin and Mrs. Mary Durham and the late Mrs. Alberta Todd Durham.
He was the former pastor of the Mount Alexander Baptist Church of Woodruff, SC. At the time of his death, he had served as pastor of Monks Grove Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC, for 22 twenty-two faithful years.
He was the president of The Tyger River Baptist Congress of Christian Education. He was a member of South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education where he served as a faculty member. He had a passion for teaching the doctrines of the church.
He was a graduate of the Fruitland Bible Institute of Hendersonville, NC, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He also was a graduate of Mid-Atlantic Bible College where he earned a Masters of Ministry degree. He also attended Converse College and Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity.
Rev. Durham is survived by his wife Donna Thomas Durham of the home; his children, Jonathan Durham and Allisondria Durham of the home; two brothers, Rev. Stanley L. (Dorethea) Durham of Moore, SC, and Rev. Amos L. (Janice) Durham of Woodruff, SC; a step-brother, James Earl Edwards of Spartanburg, SC; and a special brother in Christ, Rev. Brian K. (Carol) Scott of Simpsonville, SC; his grandchildren, Khamiya and Kamarion Ware; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Monks Grove Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 1 pm at the Monks Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. M.C. Duncan and the Rev. Ronnie Williams. The body will be placed in the church at 11 am. Burial will be in the Old Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, Simpsonville, SC.
