GAFFNEY, SC-- Doris Scruggs Turner, 69, of 317 Sycamore Street, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Edward Turner and the daughter of the late Richard Scruggs and Oveda Byars Scruggs. She was a homemaker and a former member of Spartanburg Genealogical Society. Mrs. Turner was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, also surviving are a daughter, LaDonna Turner White; a son, Chief Richard Edward Turner and wife, Kim, all of Gaffney; a sister, Frances Higgins and husband, Dean of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Jennifer Gray Hendrix and husband, Terry, Savannah Jane White, and Alexis Briane Turner; and a great-grandchild, Liam James Hendrix.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Blakely Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Jenny Gettys officiating.
