LANDRUM, SC-- Dorotha Waters Hambel, 101, of 200 Fortress Drive, Inman, passed away peacefully Friday, March 22, 2013, at RoseCrest Retirement Community. A native of Olean, NY, she was the widow of John F. Hambel and daughter of the late William R. and Emerette Worden Waters. She graduated from Elmira College.
She was a teacher in the field of elementary education and retired from Roosevelt School, New Rochelle, NY in 1973. Mrs. Hambel was a member of Landrum Presbyterian Church, the Weeders Garden Club, the Landrum Civic League and the Friends of the Library.
Survivors include three sons, John W. Hambel of Millersburg, PA, Robert E. Hambel and wife, Amanda of Glastonbury, CT and Thomas E. Hambel and wife Patricia of Moore, SC. Also surviving are three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Landrum Presbyterian Church at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, with Pastor Gene Lassiter officiating.
