SPARTANBURG, SC-- George Hughston Bullman, 90, of the Saxon Community, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at White Oak Manor. Born March 18, 1923, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late George and Clemmie Bullman and husband of the late Myrtle Grubbs Bullman.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Bullman served in World War II. He was wounded in action on June 30, 1944 at Cecina, Italy, and was honored to receive the Purple Heart, EAMET Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Gold Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and the French Unit Citation of the 34th Infantry Division with the award of Croix de Guerre with Palm. He was formerly employed with Phillips Fibers and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Douglas Bullman (Diane), George Bullman (Polly), Michael Bullman (Dede), Susie Parham (Larry), Donald Bullman (Kim), and Ronald Bullman, all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Austin, Jared, Allison, Nicholas, Ronnie, Michael, Shane, Jason, Jenna, and Jamie Bullman, Daniel Parham, Teressa Behike, and Amber Netherton; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a grandson, Todd Bullman; granddaughter, Jada Bullman; daughter-in-law, Darlene Bullman; a brother; and three sisters.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
