Guy Winton Cantrell

CHESNEE, SC-- Mr. Guy Winton Cantrell, 91, of 455 Turkey Farm Road, Chesnee, South Carolina, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the George Campbell Veterans Hospital in Asheville, NC.
He was the widower of Myrtle Lee McClure Cantrell, and the son of the late Burton Cantrell and Martha Tipton Cantrell. He was retired from Butte Knit with fifteen years of service. He was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Sunday School Class and also a member of the Golden Arrows.
He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, a POW Survivor in Germany, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Chesnee Masonic Lodge #295 and a member of the Hejaz Shriners.
He is survived by two sons, Don Cantrell and wife Rolanda of Chesnee; Jeffrey S. Cantrell and wife Tracey of North Huntington, PA.; and by two daughters, Faye Church of Landrum, SC; Guynell Thompson and husband Bobby of Chesnee and also by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers, Glenn and Lewis Cantrell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 13, 2013 at Arrowwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
