GAFFNEY, SC-- Nelson Thomas Coggins, 79, of 1021 Pacolet Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2013, at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Freddie Biddix Coggins and was the son of the late Robert Henry and Zelda Wilson Coggins. Mr. Coggins retired from Oxford Industries after 37 years of service, was a United States Navy Veteran, and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three sons, Eddie Coggins and wife, Kathy, Richard Coggins and wife, Mary, and Steve Coggins and wife, Delisa, all of Gaffney; three daughters, Sundra Sarratt and husband, Philip, Lisa Fink, and Deanna Cooper and husband, Jonathan, all of Gaffney; two brothers, James Albert Coggins and wife, Bernice, and Raymond Coggins and wife, Betty, all of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Mildred Coggins of Gaffney; fifteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Coggins; a granddaughter, Brandi Cobb; and a son-in-law, David Fink.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2013, in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Mac Sparks and Mrs. Deanna Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
