LAURENS, SC-- Ruth Rowland Hill, 90, of 5644 Indian Mound Road, and widow of Thomas Franklin Hill, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie Price Rowland. Mrs. Hill retired from Torrington, was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and WMU, taught GA's, and worked in the nursery.
Surviving are her children, Frank Hill and wife Wanda of Greenwood, Sammy Hill and wife Connie of Laurens, John Hill and wife Gloria of Spartanburg, Mary Hill Beacham and husband Dan of Honea Path, and Annie Hill Davis of Columbia; one brother, Billy Rowland and wife Jan of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bud Rowland and Bobby Rowland and a sister, Luta Belle Riddle.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Roger Smith and Rev. Dan Compton with burial in the church cemetery.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Martha Franks for their loving care and compassion given to Ruth during her stay.
