Ruth Wilson Beatty
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Ruth Wilson Beatty, 92, of 409 Vanderbilt Road, passed away on July 7, 2013 after an extended illness. A native of Spartanburg County, Mrs. Beatty was the widow of Arthur "Bob" Beatty and the daughter of the late Willie B. Wilson, Sr. and Maude Miller Wilson.
Mrs. Beatty was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of the Willing Workers Club, the September Birthday Club, Helping Hands Sympathy Club, the Golden Age Ministry, the Senior Missionary and the the Summerhill Community Prayer Circle.
Mrs. Beatty attended Spartanburg City Schools and graduated from the Cumming Street School (Carver High). She worked for many years as a personal care aide and served many patients in Spartanburg County.
Mrs. Beatty is survived by seven children; one daughter, Brenda Wingo (Winston), six sons; Willie James Beatty, Sr. (Mary F.), Arthur Lee Beatty, Jr. (Linda), Michael Beatty, Justice Donald W. Beatty (Angela), Gregory Richard Beatty and Vernon David Beatty (Gladys). She is also survived by one brother, Robert Earl Wilson (Mary) of Philadelphia, PA. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Byrd, two brothers; Willie B. Wilson, Jr. and William Bill Wilson. Other survivors include sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five devoted sisters-in-law; Lillie Bell Wilson, Lucille Young, Veola Sumpter, Viola Beatty, Gwen Suber Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 1:00 P. M. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church and interment at Heritage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P. M. prior to the service at the church. The family is at the home.
