BOILING SPRINGS- Stanley Richard Sykes, 74, of 167 Highland Ridge Trail went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Mercer, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Worley Sykes. He was retired with the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind and was a member of Woodruff Church of God. Mr. Sykes enjoyed woodworking, working on his old classic car, and spending lots of time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Johnson Sykes of the home; two daughters, Marla Jane Sykes Husted of Hanoverton, Ohio; step-daughter, Colleen Marie Husted Pruitt of Enoree, S.C.; three sons, Stanley Richard Sykes of Canfield, Ohio, Thomas Mark Husted of Spartanburg, S.C. and Michael William Husted of Hanoverton, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Gridley of Simsberry, Connecticut and Ruth Knapp of Lakefield, Massachusetts; two brothers, David Sykes of West Middlessex, Pennsylvania and Donald Sykes of Buffalo, New York; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodruff Church of God by Rev. Buster Ball and Rev. Jason Tucker.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind, 355 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302 or the Woodruff Community Center, 116. S. Main Street, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.
