Thomasena E. Fisher|
GREENVILLE, SC-- Thomasena E. Fisher passed away on January 28, 2013, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Stovall near LaGrange, GA, she was the seventh of eleven children. She attended Washington High School in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Fisher graduated from Mather Academy in Camden, SC. She finished from Claflin College in 1939, second in her class.
Mrs. Fisher marred the late Rev. Theodore H. Fisher, Jr. in 1944. They served Silver Hill United Methodist Church in Spartanburg and many others throughout the state of South Carolina. They also served St. Mark in Augusta, GA. She was an educator.
Mrs. Fisher taught school at Burke High in Charleston, Carver Elementary in Columbia and schools in Sumter, Florence, Spartanburg and Augusta, GA. After moving to Greenville, SC, in 1980, Mrs. Fisher volunteered for over 10 years with Meals on Wheels of Greenville. She joined John Wesley United Methodist Church where she started the Birthday Club. She enjoyed growing flowers and making floral arrangements for the church.
Funeral services will be at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 101 E. Court Street in Greenville, SC, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013. A family hour is scheduled for 10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Mark United Methodist Church on St. Mark Road, Taylors, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church in Mrs. T.E. Fisher's name.
