Esther E. Butler
MURPHYSBORO, IL-- Esther E. Butler, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Murphysboro, IL, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. She was born July 15, 1924, in Murphysboro, the daughter of Clarence and Blanche (Imhoff) Evans. She was united in marriage August 7, 1943, to William L. Butler, who survives. Esther worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses and was a devoted homemaker who especially enjoyed her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Murphysboro.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Butler of Spartanburg, SC; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven W. (Katherine) Butler of Spartanburg, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda B. (Gerald) Kuhn of Waldron, IN, and EvAnn B. (Steven) Rempala of Landisville, PA; one sister, Alice M. (Clete) Huhn of Orlando, FL; two grandsons, David W. (Anne) Butler of Richfield, MN and Maj. Peter G. Kuhn USAF of Tamuning, Guam; four granddaughters, Lisa Jane Kuhn (Mark) Fraioli of Richmond, CA, Jill E. (Eric) Rhoden, PhD of Austin, TX, Janessa E. Rempala of Landisville, PA, and Meredith A. (Daniel) Luckenbaugh, MD of Baltimore, MD; and four great-grandchildren, Arabella, William and Weston Rhoden and Eugene Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William K. Evans.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with Rev. Bill Boudet officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
