William "Pop" Godfrey

WOODRUFF, SC-- William Hamilton "Pop" Godfrey, 69, of 515 Meadowbrook Avenue, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday May 5, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional's Gibbs Cancer Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Columbus Godfrey and Margaret Henson Godfrey-Compton. He was the husband of Linda Casey Godfrey, a member of Cavins Baptist church, a retired district manager with The Greenville News and a US Navy Veteran. Mr. Godfrey was also a Mason and Lifetime member of Bethel Lodge #112, a Shriner and a member of The Woodruff Shrine Club.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the home, include one son, William Anthony "Tony" Godfrey of Easley; one daughter, Tammi Godfrey Davis and her husband Phillip of Woodruff; and two grandchildren, Blake Stinnett and Bailey Davis.
Masonic Rites will be held 6:30 PM Monday, May 7, 2012, at Forest Hills Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Monday, May 7 2012, at Forest Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Forest Hills Funeral Home, in The Stribling Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Carrol Caldwell and Rev. Bryan Thompson. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
Memorials may be made to Gibb's Cancer Center Infusion Center, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
