Folan Hinson
INMAN, SC-- Folan Hinson, age 77, died Monday, May 14, 2012, after a prolonged illness.
Folan was born March 3, 1935, in Monroe, NC to the late Sylvester and Lilly Hinson. He was the baby of eleven children.
Folan received his Bachelor's from Appalachian State University, Masters from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and post graduate degree from The University of South Carolina. He enjoyed a long career in school administration including serving as the principal at Boiling Springs High School from 1985-1993.
Folan was a member of the Army Reserve, a Mason, and a Shriner. He was a loving husband, daddy and devoted family man.
Folan is survived by his wife, Becky Haigler Hinson of Inman, SC; and six children, Tim Hinson (Debra) of Monroe, NC, Terry Hinson (Barbara) of Sumter, SC, Holly Hinson Timmons (KC) of Suwanee, GA, Mary Hinson of Inman, SC, Sarah Hinson Stepp (Brandon) of Chesnee, SC and Daniel Hinson of Inman, SC. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 2:00pm - 7:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Total Ministries, 420 Union St., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
