Alfred William "Bill" Steller, III
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Alfred William "Bill" Steller, III, 61, of Spartanburg, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born July 4, 1950, in Spokane, WA, he was the son of the late Hewlett Beach Steller and Nancy Dodrill Steller.
Mr. Steller was a 1972 graduate of the University of Georgia, was a dedicated employee of 37 years with Milliken & Company, and was recently employed with Mermet, USA, a division of Hunter Douglas.
He was a member, lay leader, actively involved in the "A Return to Bethlehem" Christmas project, and a member of the Companion Sunday School Class at Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a former board member of 20 years at Bethlehem Center, as well as grounds and building volunteer, and was a trustee and Saturday volunteer at Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve. His garden had been selected to be on the Master Garden Tour this year.
Mr. Steller is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jenifer Jeffcoat Steller; daughters, Shea Steller Dent and husband Matt, Ansley Steller Somers and husband Bryan, and Carlon Steller all of Spartanburg; grandson, Brandon Somers; sister, Sally S. McGough of Richmond, TX; and brother-in-law, Carlton E. Jeffcoat, Jr. of Waterford, VA.
Visitation will be 2:30-4:15 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in the Parlor of Bethel United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:30 PM. in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. David E. Nichols.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve, c/o The Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302-1943 or Bethel United Methodist Church Adult Missions, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or The Bethlehem Center, 397 Highland Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
