Rena Clayton Hunsinger Abernathy
WELLFORD, SC-- Rena Clayton Hunsinger Abernathy entered her eternal rest on June 5, 2012. The daughter of Drew and Ina Hunsinger, she was born in Campobello, SC on January 6, 1923. She lived in the Campobello area for the next 22 years. In 1945, Sgt. Rob Abernathy married her and they moved to Missouri for two years. When they came home, they lived in the Wellford area for the remainder of their lives.
She was a member of the Wellford Baptist Church, an avid reader, and a vegetable and flower gardener. Visitation will be Saturday, June 9, at the Wellford Baptist Church from 2:00 to 3:00, followed by the funeral at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Wellford, SC.
Mrs. Abernathy was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert Lee Abernathy. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine (Bob) Felton, of Wellford, SC; her son, Barney (Linda) Abernathy of Chesterfield, SC; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to The Building Fund, Wellford Baptist Church, 225 Syphrit Rd., Wellford, SC 29385.
