Thomas Stephen Painter
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Thomas Stephen "Steve" Painter, 60, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his home. Born March 23, 1952, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Marion R. and Edith DuBose Painter.
Steve was the owner-operator of Ex-Cel Cleaning Service and a former member of Ben Avon United Methodist Church. He grew up in the Ben Avon Community, played Little League baseball, and was a graduate of Spartanburg High School where he was also a member of the baseball team. He was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic fisherman who spent many weekends with his buddies on the lake.
He is survived by his four brothers, Robert E. "Bobby" Painter of Spartanburg, Ted A. Painter (Alex) of Bloxom, VA, Carrol L. "Bo" Painter (Virginia) of Spartanburg, and M. Joel Painter (Libby Taylor) of Spartanburg; two sisters, Kaye P Hanson (Marvin) of Tow, TX, and Kathy Morgan (Norm) of Moore, SC; and nine nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Monday, June 18, 2012, at Ben Avon United Methodist Church. A service honoring his life will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Jones Brewer. Burial, at a later date, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
