GAFFNEY, SC-- Thomas Ed Hames, Sr., 73, of 116 Kristin Drive, Gaffney, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Martha Melton Hames and the son of the late Hollis Lands and Emma Rea Scruggs Hames. He retired from Chesnee Communications with 50 year of service and was a member of Chesnee Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mr. Hames is survived by one daughter, Lydia Hames and husband, Kenneth, of Gaffney; two sons, Thomas Ed Hames, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, and Micah Eugene Hames and wife, Elaine, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Della Varner and husband, Harry, and Shirley Cash; four brothers, Douglas Hames, David Hames, Ted Hames and K.B. Hames; nine grandchildren, Kristin Hames, Joshua Hames (served four years in Iraq with the US Marine Corp), Chelsea Hames, Ashli Gilreath, Micah-Roy Hames, Kaylea Hames, Jobe Hames, Kaleb Johnson and Isaiah Hames; and six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Peace, Mason Alessi, James Peace, Luke Peace, Sandra Hames and Lathan Hames.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel.
