SPARTANBURG, SC-- Myrtle Kathleen Baker Smith, 64, of 220 Old Lowe Road, is resting in Jesus as of Monday, July 2, 2012, at her residence.
Born in Marion, NC, she was the wife of Robert Leo Smith, Sr. and daughter of the late John Edwin and Myrtle Worley Baker. Mrs. Smith was previously employed by Cline, Brandt, Kochenower & Co. and retired as Human Resource Director for the Carolina Conference of Seventh-day Adventist. Mrs. Smith was a former Pathfinder Leader and was the Children's Sabbath School teacher at her Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Sonja Michelle DeMott and husband, Randy of Mount Dora, FL; a son, Robert Leo Smith, Jr. of Mount Holly, NC; three brothers, Oliver Baker and wife, Mary, Cecil Baker and Carl Baker and wife, Grace, all of Gaffney; a sister, Marlene Morgan and husband, Eddie of Indian Trail, NC; three grandchildren, Cory Lee DeMott, Nicholas Aaron DeMott and Amber Marie Smith. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Troy Lee Baker.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Moyer and Pastor Jerry LaFave officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
