COLUMBIA, SC-- A memorial service for Col. Grafton Packard Tayman, Jr., U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 81, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Smith Chapel, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, with interment in Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery, Croom, MD.
The family will receive friends following service at the church.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Col. Tayman died Sunday, July 1, 2012. Born on November 12, 1930, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Grafton P. Tayman and Cora Elizabeth Stamp Kazey. Col. Tayman retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves after serving his country for 30 years and was also retired from the CIA after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.
Surviving are his loving wife, Floye Pettit Tayman; son, Stephen Edward Tayman, of Wilmington, NC; daughters, Melissa Ann Mathis of Columbia, MO, Lorena Lynn Berry-Tayman (Lisa) of Avon, IN; three grandchildren, Jennifer Woelbel, Paul Edward Berry-Tayman, and Claire Rosalyn Berry-Tayman; stepson, Ronald Field Strange; stepdaughter, Teri Lynn Strange (Bob McClary); and stepgranddaughter, Sara Strange, all of Spartanburg.

Friends will be welcome at the family home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
