William Preston Thomas
BELTON, SC-- William Preston Thomas, 79, husband of Betty Turner Thomas, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Belton, he was the son of the late Reece A. and Mallie Cox Thomas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Belton. He graduated from Belton High School and attended Furman University. He served in the National Guard and was a past President of Rotary Club of Greenville. After many years of service, he retired as V.P. of Human Resources of Allied Chemical.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his son, Mike Thomas and wife Ruthie of Alabama; daughter, Julie Malinda Thomas Flanagan and husband Bill of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Sherrill Currie and husband Darren, Jason Thomas, Kristen Hartman, Matthew Hartman, Brandon Flanagan and Jenna Flanagan; great-grandchild, Elijah Currie; step daughters, Kim Muzika and Kelly Gilliam; step grandchildren; Emma Gilliam, Sloan Gilliam, Will Muzika and Anna Muzika.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Thomas LaVecchia.
Service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Lynch officiating. Burial will be held after the service at 2:30 pm at Green Pond Baptist Church Cemetery of Woodruff.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 9:45 am until 10:45 am at Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials in his honor may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or to Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson, SC 29621.
The family will be at the residence.
