ROEBUCK, SC-- Rev. Norwood Fowler, Sr., 72, of 415 W. Rustling Leaves Lane, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. A native of Spartanburg, he was the husband of Shirley Foster Fowler of the home and son of the late Alexander and Sarah Rooks Fowler.
He was a member and associate minister of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a U S Army Veteran and was retired from the Army National Guard. He worked extensively in law enforcement and security in Newberry County, Spartanburg County, and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). He was engaged in a number of entrepreneurial pursuits in business, finance, real estate, and food service.
Survivors in addition to his wife, include three sons, Thomas Fowler and Norwood A. Fowler, Jr. both of Spartanburg and Dwayne Meadows; four daughters, Sharon Dawkins, Vickie Campbell, Patricia Fowler, and Sandra (Westley) Jeter all of Spartanburg; one brother, Glennwood Fowler of Spartanburg; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the home.
