 Marjorie Smith Brown
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Marjorie Smith Brown, 89, formerly of Mobile, AL, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Magnolia Manor-Inman. Born February 26, 1923, she was the widow of Marvin D. Brown; both were originally from Evergreen, AL. She was the daughter of the late William Kelley and Lois McIntyre Smith.
Mrs. Brown was an exceptional pianist and an avid reader of nonfiction. Her love of music, literature, and life itself was superseded only by her love for her family. Marjorie is remembered for her welcoming smile, her positive outlook and an encouraging, optimistic spirit. She had been a resident of Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Inman, SC, since February 14, 2007 and considered the upstate of South Carolina her home. She was deeply loved and will be sincerely missed.
Surviving are her children, Marvin D. "Sonny" Brown, Jr. (Dottie) of Rockledge, FL, Dianne Querbes (Clay) of Dallas, TX, Robert K. Brown (Mary Lynn) of Cary, NC, Steven E. Brown (Phyllis) of Spartanburg, SC, and Kathy Dyslin (John) of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Lori Grant (Randy), Kim Urbanski (Tim), Robert Rooker, Margaret Tarkowski (Ron), Kelley Brown (Scott), Courtney Wright (Ivan), Michael Brown (Kelli), Rebecca Brown, Danielle Grummer (Dale), Andi Lee (Brian), and Brandon Jardine; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Maegan, Ryan, Sydney, Makayla, Malorie, Caroline, Carter, Grace, Maryn, Elizabeth, and Aubrey.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2012, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Magnolia Manor-Inman Activity Department, 63 Blackstock Road, Inman, SC 29349.
A special "Thank You" is extended by her family to the staff of Magnolia Manor-Inman and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Also to her beloved companion, CNA Lois, and all the "Nurse Debs" that cared for her through the years. Her faith in Christ and assurance of a heavenly afterlife fostered her peaceful passing.
