Sybil Medlock Frey
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Sybil Medlock Frey, of Fairforest, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
Born April 1, 1924, in Spartanburg of the late Romell and Pat Norton, she was the widow of Preston Medlock and Norman Frey. Sybil was a homemaker and a long-time member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she served as a children's Sunday school teacher, a member of Yesterday's Children Choir, and various other ministries of the church.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Medlock (Kay) and Randy Medlock (Kathy); one daughter, Karen Martin all of Spartanburg; two stepsons, George Frey (Carol) of Alaska, and Jim Frey (Margie) of Texas; one sister, Mildred Gregory of Spartanburg; one sister-in-law, Millie Norton of Leesville; five grandchildren, Todd Medlock (Julie), Kacey Watson (Jason), Nicole Scott (Brian), Juli MacMillan (Grant), Betsy Pearson (Joey); four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sybil was predeceased by her brother, J.P. Norton, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2012, from 2:45pm-3:45pm at Fairforest Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 4:00pm, officiated by Reverend Kermit Morris and Reverend Don Greene. Interment will be immediately following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Kathy and Randy Medlock, 6130 Robin St., Spartanburg, SC.
