Dr. James Boyd Leavitt, D.M.D. passed away September 18th, 2012, at Tucson Medical Center. He was the husband of Janis April Mathis, daughter of the late Thurman and Shirley Mathis of Cowpens.
Dr. Leavitt was born in Shelby, MT. He met Janis while they were attending college at BYU. They were married on August 19, 1966. Dr. Leavitt proudly served in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of Major. He and Janis lived in many cities where he served before being stationed at Fort Huachuca in 1985 and making Sierra Vista their home. Jim's great love was his family.
Dr. Leavitt is survived by his wife, Janis, two sons, two daughters-in-law, a daughter, and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, September 27th, followed by interment with military honors at Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.
