GAFFNEY, SC-- Sam William Cole, 65, of 2335 Wilkinsville Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the beloved husband of Sheila Corbett Cole and son of the late W. C. (Fat) Cole and Thelma Workman Cole. Mr. Cole was a graduate of Gaffney High School, attended Spartanburg Technical College, and was a self-employed builder. Sam was a member of the National Guard, was an avid hunter/fisherman and was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Jeff Cole of Gaffney; a daughter, Crystal Vassey of Gaffney; two brothers, Willard Cole and wife, Sandra, and Kenneth Cole and wife, Brenda, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Barbara C. Rochester and husband, David and Marsha C. Wilkins and husband, Brent, all of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Brittany Cole, who was raised in the home, Jeffrey Cole, Tyler Vassey, Brianna Vassey and Grayson Vassey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph K. Cole and Danny Wayne Cole.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at East Gaffney Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Dr. Wofford Caughman and Rev. Ron Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
