SPARTANBURG, SC-- Carl H. "Tootsie" Fowler, Sr., 78, of 211 Owens Ave., passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC. He was the husband of Brenda Canipe Parris Fowler. He was first married to the late Jan Way Fowler.
Mr. Fowler was a native of Spartanburg and a son of the late Buford and Ruby Satterfield Fowler. He was a retired cabinet maker and a member of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Hewitt "Hew" Jr. and Teresa Fowler of Williamston, SC; daughters and son-in-law, Kay and Charles Brunson of Irmo, SC, and Jennifer Hadden of Spartanburg; step sons and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Parris of Gaffney, SC, and Roger Parris of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Megan Watkins, Caroline Shiffer and Casey Parris. He was predeceased by three sisters, Peggy Gray, Dolores Roe and Cheryl Lawon; and one brother, Bobby Fowler. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. David Sutton.
