Toni Lee Carter Ratti
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Toni Lee Carter Ratti of Spartanburg, SC, went with the angels Saturday, February 23, 2013. Born March 12, 1956, in Cabarrus County NC, she was the daughter of Mary Frances Ensley Carter and the late James Leon Carter, Sr.
Toni graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1974 and served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1977-1981. She was awarded the USAF Good Conduct Medal, USAF Longevity Service Award and the USAF Outstanding Unit Award. After her honorable discharge she returned to Spartanburg where she made a home for her children, Rhysa Janelle Ratti of the home and USMC Sgt. Ryne James-Joseph Ratti (Jamie) of Cincinatti, OH. The light of her life was her grandson, Gavin Miles Ratti.
In addition to her mother, children and grandson, she is survived by her brothers Jim Carter, Jr. (Claudia) of Cookeville TN, Rusty Carter of Palm Harbor, FL, Scott Carter of Spartanburg; sisters, Gari Carter of Washington DC, and Kim Allison (Lucky) of Spartanburg. Toni was blessed with a multitude of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her father, James Leon Carter, Sr. and sister-in-law, Shelli Carter.
A memorial will be held at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church Thursday, February 28. Visitation will be from 1 pm, with the service at 2 pm.
