Jeanne Crawford Cheatham|
ARDEN, NC-- Jeanne Crawford Cheatham, age 85, passed away in Arden, NC on Sunday, April 21, 2013. She graduated from Knoxville High School and married Young High School football star Willard Eugene "Elrod" Cheatham. Marriage disqualified him from playing for General Robert Neyland at the University of Tennessee. He continued his gridiron exploits at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, while Jeanne made sure he graduated!
Later when "Rod" joined the US Marine Corps, Jeanne was in her element as an officer's wife. Just 3 years later her beloved husband of 32 years died suddenly leaving her bereft. She worked at Wofford, eventually retiring. She lived with daughter Becky when she died.
