John K. Casey Obituary
John K. Casey
COLUMBUS, NC-- John Kenneth Casey, 52, of 74 Melissa Brooks Drive, Columbus, NC; formerly of 106 Otto Lawter Road, Chesnee, SC; went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at TyCobb Regional Medical Center in Lavonia, GA following an extensive, yet courageous, battle against colorectal cancer.
John was born on March 6, 1961, in Oxnard, CA to James and Lorraine Casey along with older siblings Jim, Luann and Susan. At the early age of six, John's dad began to teach him the art of motorcycle racing. Throughout John's life, he enjoyed many forms of motorcycle racing, but flat track racing was in his blood. John's racing career spanned 46 years with hundreds of trophies and recognitions to justify his efforts. Shortly after his cancer diagnosis, John and his wife Amanda, along with racing partners Jay Bishop and son, Joshua Casey, formed Cancer Warriors 101 Racing Team with a quest to overcome, defeat, and conquer colorectal cancer through education and awareness. John lived by his quote, "Dream as Though you'll Live Forever ... Live as Though you'll Die Tomorrow."
After originating and owning his own business, Casey's Door and Glass, in Punta Gorda, FL, for more than a decade, John moved to Chesnee, SC in 2006, where he worked as a Project Manager for Graham Hodge & Associates in Greenville, SC. John actively attended Buck Creek Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Amanda Bailey Casey; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Ashley with grandson Ethan; sons, John Jr. and Joshua; daughters, Jennifer and Mikyla; parents, James and Lorraine Casey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Ruthann Bailey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith and Carolyn White; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Denise Casey; sister and brother-in-law, Luann and Gary Gunder; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Mark Stottlemyer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenn and Amy Bailey.
A Memorial Service in celebration of the life of John Kenneth Casey will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Buck Creek Baptist Church, 506 Buck Creek Road, Chesnee, SC. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
