I am a former teacher and sometimes I do a search of special former students to see if I can see what is happening in their lives. Today I did a search for Garious Burton as I also did probably 8-10 years ago at which time we briefly connected on Facebook. Garious was in the first class that I ever taught. You know how teachers sometimes have students that just touches them and they want so badly for them to succeed in life. Garious was that student for me. I loved that child and wanted him to succeed in life. He along with students in that first class I taught attended my wedding. I moved away from Greenwood after that first year but the guidance counselor kept me updated on Garious. Garious wrote a book for me in third grade and the counselor sent me a copy. I went and visited him that year, too. I was deeply saddened to read of Garious’s death in 2013. I am sure it was close to that time that we messaged briefly. I always wondered why I never heard more from him. I pray he is in heaven and is rejoicing. God bless you Garious. I always told you to choose good friends! I hope you’re surrounded by friends and family and with your mom in Heaven. I pray you knew the Lord. Much love to you always Garious. Your second grade teacher. ❤
