PAULINE, SC-- Gerald "Jerry" Thomas Jenkins, 84, of Friendship Church Road, Pauline, SC, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 27, 1930, in Heilwood, PA, he was a son of the late Isaac C. and Laura Lansberry Jenkins. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 20 years, with service in Korea and Vietnam as a hospital corpsman. He was also retired from Spartanburg County Maintenance and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Melba Hayes Jenkins; a son, William W. Jenkins (Verna) of Pauline; a daughter, Cynthia J. Courtney (Ken) of Austin, TX; six grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Trinkley. He was predeceased by three sons, a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 3:45 PM on Sunday, March 23, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church, 830 Friendship Church Road, Pauline, SC 29374. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Rev. Brian P. Harris. Burial with full military rites will follow in the church cemetery.
