COWPENS, SC-- John Wayne Nantz, 76, of Battleground Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Cooley Springs, he was the husband of Barbara C. Nantz and the son of the late John Boyce Nantz and Pearl Horton Nantz. Mr. Nantz was the owner/operator of John Nantz Used Cars for over 45 years, was a Mason and Shriner and was a U. S. Navy veteran. He loved hunting, Nascar, was an avid Andy Griffith and Waltons fan, and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three grandchildren, Jessica Cash and husband, Shawn, Melissa Chappell, and Tyler Seay; three great-grandchildren, Cole Davis, Cooper Davis and Sampson Chappell. He was preceded in death by three daughters, Robin Nantz Hunter, Rita Nantz and Sharon Padilla, a sister, Maxine DeShaies and a brother D. F. Nantz.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Kirby officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will be in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
