Olsey J. Corn R. N.
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Olsey J. Corn passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg after fighting a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Grand Cayman, British West Indies, August 6, 1932, and she was a loyal subject to the throne of England. She continued her education and training at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. In1955, she married James D. Corn and moved to the upstate, where she pursued her work in all areas of nursing, including earning a BS degree from Limestone College in Gaffney. Her professional career ended when she retired from teaching health careers at Daniel Morgan Vocational School here in the upstate.
Olsey loved golf, crocheting, pets, and travel while having two children, Jim II and Jamie.
Surviving is her husband of 59 years, James D. Corn, Sr.; son, James D. Corn, Jr. of Kings Mountain, NC; daughter, Jamie E. Corn of Tryon, NC; and brother, John H. Jackson of Fort Myers, FL. She was predeceased by a sister, Jewel Higginson.
Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM Monday, April 21, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
